How do I Zip (compress) multiple files?

Although this is a very simple thing to do nowadays, we are still surprised when some of our clients ask us this question.

What is Zip?

Zip refers to the compression of multiple files. The word “zip” comes from the most popular software that does this which is “WinZip”.

Why do I need to Zip?

There are several reasons why you want to do this, however the most popular one is when sending multiple files (pictures/files) via email.
Sending a couple of files via email (under 5) is very common, however if you need to send more, not only is inconvenient to do it 1 by 1 but most email providers will not allow you to do so as they limit the number of files or the total attachment size.
Compressing your files makes it easy for you and the other party to transfer multiple files.

Do I need a special software to do this?

Most computers already come with built-in software that does this. You can check if you have these, otherwise you can download them for free:

Winzip, Winrar, 7Zip (any of these will work, you only need one of them)
