Search engine optimization (SEO) is crucial for increasing the visibility of your website in search engine results, often referred to as “natural” or “organic” traffic. A well-optimized site is more likely to rank higher in search results, attracting more visitors.
Editing Your Site’s SEO #
Access SEO Settings: In the side panel, click SEO & Settings, then choose SEO.
SEO Settings and Configuration #
- No Index for the Entire Site: Use this setting if you prefer your site or specific pages not to appear in search results.
- Custom Sitemap and Files: Upload various file types to your site’s root, providing additional data to enhance your website. For more details, see Site Configuration Files.
- Lazy Loading and Fonts: Lazy loading improves page speed by loading images and widgets as they appear on the screen. Enable default system fonts for quick readability while custom fonts load. Be aware that font loading may cause a brief “blink.”
To enable these features, toggle Lazy loading of images & widgets and Show default system fonts while custom fonts are loading.
SEO Hierarchy #
Remember, homepage and specific page SEO settings override global settings. It may take 4-12 weeks for Google to update changes, but you can request a crawl through Google Search Console to expedite the process.
- Site Meta Title: This crucial tag informs search engines and users about your page content. Include important keywords and ensure it’s user-friendly to encourage clicks. This field can connect to the Content Library via Connected Data.
- Site Meta Description: While not a ranking factor, this description can entice users to visit your site by clearly advertising your content. Create compelling, concise descriptions. This field can also connect to the Content Library via Connected Data.
- Site Keywords: While not used by major search engines for ranking, they may still be useful for smaller directories. Use them sparingly.
