How does location targeting work?

Google and Meta Ads location targeting allows advertisers to show their ads to people in specific geographic areas. This can be done by targeting specific cities, regions, countries, or a radius around a location.

How does it work?
  • Uses signals like user settings, devices, and behavior to serve ads to users who meet your location settings
  • Also known as proximity targeting or radius targeting
What type of businesses can use it?
  • Local businesses can use it to target their local customers
  • E-commerce stores can use it to target ads to multiple countries where they operate
  • Businesses with multiple branches can use it to create separate campaigns targeting different cities
Can I adjust the location after the initial setup?

Yes, you can modify this at any time. You can restrict specific states, cities or zip codes that you do not want to target for whatever reason. You can also add more to increase your target range. Geographic Area change requests can be done by creating a support ticket on the client area.

PS: Beware that changing geographic locations has a direct impact on the Cost Per Click (CPC) as some geographic areas are more or less competitive than others, therefore your number of leads will most likely vary next month.
