The Drip Action is designed to regulate the flow of contacts through a workflow, preventing the simultaneous execution of numerous steps. By setting parameters such as batch size and drip interval, you can maintain control over the pace of contact progression, ensuring that the workflow runs smoothly and efficiently without overwhelming the system or causing a bottleneck.
Head to the Automation > Workflows section in your account to create a new workflow or select an existing workflow to edit it.
Begin by selecting the Drip action from the available workflow actions.
Enter a descriptive name for the action to convey its intended purpose and facilitate easy identification in the workflow builder.
Define the number of executions allowed per batch. The range for this setting is from a minimum of one to a maximum of ten thousand contacts per batch.
Set the time interval for the drip action. You can choose between minutes, hours, or days, with intervals ranging from one minute to seven days.
Save the action to add it to your workflow, and be sure to save the workflow to maintain your changes!
Consider a scenario where 10,000 contacts enter a workflow, or 5,000 contacts progress from a wait step to the next stage. To prevent a surge in executions and maintain a steady flow, you can configure the Drip Action as follows:
This configuration ensures that only 50 contacts move to the next step every 10 minutes, thereby controlling the pace of the workflow and avoiding overwhelming system resources.
By using the Drip Action, you can achieve precise control over workflow execution, improving system performance and ensuring that contacts progress through the workflow at a manageable rate. This feature is particularly valuable when handling large volumes of contacts or when a steady pace is required for optimal engagement and results.
